
Dr Nils Bergman
Bio
Consulting Public Health Physician (freelance)
Research Affiliate, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
Dr Bergman qualified in Cape Town, South Africa, and later worked as doctor at Manama Mission, Zimbabwe. Here he, with Midwife Agneta Jurisoo, developed and implemented Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for premature infants right from birth, with dramatic improvement in survival of premature babies. He has continued researching this, and has given keynote addresses on KMC at International Conferences in six continents.
He has a Diploma in Child Health, a Masters degree in Public Health, and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Pharmacology, on the effects of scorpion stings.
He is married to Jill, and father to Rebecka, Simon and Emma.

Mwate Chintu

Mwate Kathleen Nampemba Chintu has over 30 years of experience in public health, maternal and adolescent; neonatal, and child health; infant and young child nutrition (IYCN).
Mwate is an indigenous Zambian from Northern Province, Mambwe by tribe, Kawimbe area, Mbala district near Lake Chila and Kalambo Falls the second highest waterfalls in Africa.
Mwate is a nurse by profession with Master’s in Public Health, BSc Nursing, Nursing education and midwifery.
Mwate has vast experience in IYCN including implementation of Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and the Code of Marketing of Breast milk Substitutes strategies in the context of HIV and prevention of mother-to-child (PMTCT) of HIV through breastfeeding; and in the context of COVID 19 at health facility level and community settings.
Mwate has modelled community Mother – Father Support; of Mother-Infant Pair (MIP) follow-up for PMTCT through breastfeeding in which 98% of HIV-exposed infants were HIV-free with excellent growth patterns and in better health than other children, not HIV exposed.
Mwate has worked in separate roles with partners in Africa – UNICE, WHO, USAID Organization globally, nationally and community levels to Protect, Promote and Support breastfeeding.

International development professional with multi-cultural experience in women’s empowerment, child wellbeing, agriculture value chains, youth participation and volunteering for development.
Over fifteen years’ experience working with multi-stakeholders providing international programme management in project design, proposal development, project implementation, review, learning and reporting for: Save the Children New Zealand child poverty portfolios in Fiji, Nepal and Cambodia; the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand; and Voluntary Service Overseas in Thailand, Nepal, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe.
Currently Romchalee provides strategy and programme management support for Rede Feto Timor-Leste to promote women’s empowerment and end violence against women and girls in Timor-Leste. Her latest achievement is influencing positive change for Rede Feto Timor-Leste to emerge as a stronger organization.

Leah Margulies
Bio
Leah Margulies is a lawyer, Second Wave Feminist, and member of Veteran Feminists of America. (Bio in Feminists Who Changed America, 1963 – 1975.) She is a founder of Corporate Accountability International (formerly Infact), and the International Nestle Boycott. She set up the legal office of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, UNICEF and was legal staff at the Environment Unit of the UN Centre on Transnational Corporations. Currently, she represents low income Brooklynites, defending them against eviction. Publications include “The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes: A Model for Assuring Children’s Nutrition Rights Under the Law,” in The International Journal of Children’s Rights, Kluwer Academic Publishers (1997); “A Critical Essay on the Role of Promotion in Bottle Feeding,” United Nations Protein Advisory Group Bulletin, (1977); “The Media: New Images of Women In Contemporary Society,” in The American Woman: Who Will She Be? Glencoe Press (1974); and Editor, Climate Change and Transnational Corporations, United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations, 1992. She is also a musician and founding member of a pioneering women’s rock band that played at the first national women’s march for abortion rights, 1972, before Roe v Wade was decided.

Josephine Nalugo

I am a mother with 2 decades work experience in livelihood management and improvement, in Uganda, DRC, Ghana, Tanzania. I am a member of International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) UGANDA and International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) member. I run community Breastfeeding and baby carrying support groups in Uganda offering breastfeeding consultancy and support. A National Trainer in Infant and Yong Child feeding, Baby friendly Health facility Trainer and Internal and External Assessor. I am an Attachment Parenting Trainer certified by Attachment Parenting International (API). I am a lifestyle Exercise Attitude Nutrition (LEAN) Coach certified by Dr. Sears wellness Institute. I am an organic farmer. I have been managing Happy Baby Carrier project in Uganda since 2016 to date.

Nomajoni Ntombela

As a Public Nurse/Midwife, Nomajoni has more than 40 years of experience in Maternal Child Health, Clinical Practice, Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, Sexually Transmitted Infections such as HIV and AIDS, Maternal and Child Nutrition, Infant and young child feeding including Food Security. She provided several programs linking agriculture and nutrition in collaboration with Wageningen University. Further has extensive knowledge and experience in advocacy, program design, planning, implementation monitoring and evaluation, policy, and curricula development. She is a Master Trainer on Infant and Young child feeding and related issues
During her work in the Sub-Saharan African region, she coordinated and provided technical assistance to governments through the Ministries of Health and sectors, Non- Governmental Organizations, and Civil Society in Sub-Saharan Africa on developing national laws on breastmilk substitutes, infant and Young Child Feeding, Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, HIV and Infant Feeding, HIV/ AIDS Policies and on Maternity Protection at work, at international, regional, district and community levels.
Nomajoni is currently the Chairperson/Technical Advisor for IBFAN Africa Region coordinating English and Portuguese- speaking countries and the Co-Chair of IBFAN Global Council.

Magdalena Whoolery

Dr. Magdalena Whoolery is the founder of Breastfeeding International. She is a Maternal Child Health and Infant Young Child Feeding Consultant, with over 20 years of experience as a registered nurse with a PhD from Brunel, working in health and social sectors, including research, programme design and development, project management, community development and humanitarian emergency response. Magdalena has worked for the World Health Organization in Timor-Leste and UNICEF in Indonesia. She provides support at government level, health sector, community and in emergencies to scale up protection, promotion and support of maternal-child health, nutrition and breastfeeding. Her multilingual information, education and communication resources have been disseminated by La Leche League International, IBFAN, Breastfeeding Advocacy Australia and Safely Fed Canada.
